David Oppenheim is a director, producer, and writer of documentary film, television, and new media. He has worked as a Producer for CBC Newsworld, TVOntario and the Discovery Health Channel and as an Associate Producer and Researcher for a number of leading Canadian independent documentary production companies. His current day job is Head of Development with Kensington Communications. Between television gigs, he has also co-written and directed Our Town Faro, a short documentary for the National Film Board about an aging real estate salesman trying to revive a ghost town in Canada’s North. Our Town Faro was nominated for a Golden Sheaf award at the 2006 Yorkton Short Film and Video Festival. David also wrote and produced the award-winning mockumentary Almost Tragic, which screened as part of the MocDocs program during the 2004 Hot Docs International Documentary Festival where it won the CBC award for Best Mockumentary. David was a resident of the Canadian Film Centre’s Interactive Arts & Entertainment program. He has continued his work on interactive media projects, most recently as co-producer and content lead for Diamond Road Online, an interactive documentary based on the award-winning television series exploring the global diamond trade.
